CHOOSING YOUR LOCATION
Your location is one of the most important parts of your session!
Your choice of location should represent your family; reflect how you want your images to look and also compliment you all. While I have a list of location in and around the northern suburbs, I also love working with clients on a location that reflects something special to them. For some, it’s returning to the location they were married with their family years later, or on a family property in the bush.
Please note that for locations more then 30km outside of Mickleham I charge a $50 travel fee.
But here are a few of my favorites for family and maternity sessions.
Field
Field locations can be so stunning in the long grass at sunset, watching the kids run and play in gorgeous light.
Beach
The beach is by far one of my favorite locations! Sunrise or sunset, playing in the wind, the waves and on the sand can be amazing fun and a way to capture so many authentic moments.
Park
Park locations are full of beautiful colors, gorgeous flora and space for the kid to explore!
Newborn Sessions
Newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home within the first few weeks of baby's life. For a lot of families, this can seem a little stressful. And I get it! A new baby at home, potentially older kids running wild, pets, mess, visitors. It all seems to be happening at once! So here a few things for getting through your session at home;
MY TOP TIPS FOR PREPARING FOR YOUR SHOOT
Pick a room in your house with great lighting. Usually that is the master bedroom, living room or guest bedroom. Things to look out for are big windows and neutral room colours (while we all love a bright feature wall, pink or purple might not be the colour you wanted tinted in your Newborn photos)
Remove any clutter off the floor, tables or bed. I'm a mum so I don’t judge! if it is in a pile in the wardrobe, guess what, I'm not taking photos in there!
Put a clean set of sheets/cover on the bed with a simple design.
When we schedule your session, make sure you tell any family or friends that want to visit – no.
This is a special time for your family to capture your new arrival, you don’t need to worry about entertaining as well.
